Business envelopes are printed on ready-made stock in three working sizes: DL 110 x 220 mm for an A4 letter folded in three, C5 162 x 229 mm for A5 or an A4 folded once, and C4 229 x 324 mm for flat A4 and reports. White woodfree at 100 gsm or 120 gsm is standard, with kraft and security-tinted linings where the contents should not read through. Windows normally sit about 20 mm in from the left and 15 mm up from the bottom on DL, so the address block in your document has to line up with the aperture before anything is printed. Flaps are supplied gummed or peel-and-seal. Surface printing on a made-up envelope cannot bleed: ink stops roughly 5 mm short of the folded edges and the flap. Designs that run to the edge need flat sheets printed first, then die-cut and converted.
